Aceh Tengah, September 2, 2024 — The Biology Department of Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) has established a strategic partnership with the Aceh Tengah Government in an effort to apply biological sciences across various sectors of governance. This event, held at the SMA (High School) in Aceh Tengah, aims to strengthen the synergy between academia and government to optimize the use of biological knowledge in supporting regional development.
The event was attended by the Head of the Biology Department, Prof. Lenni Fitri, S.Si., M.P., and the Head of the Master of Biology Program, Essy Harnelly, M.Si., Ph.D. Both expressed the department’s commitment to actively contribute to various programs related to the environment, health, and natural resource management.
The Acting Regent of Aceh Tengah, Subhandhy, AP, M.Si., in his remarks, emphasized the importance of continuing this collaboration beyond just ceremonial events. He expressed hope that this partnership would lead to concrete actions that can be implemented in future government programs. “Through this collaboration, biology is expected to make a tangible impact in the fields of agriculture, forestry, health, and environmental management in Aceh Tengah,” said Subhandhy.
This partnership between the Biology Department and the Aceh Tengah Government marks a significant step toward integrating scientific knowledge with local policies, where academics and government officials can work together to achieve sustainable development goals.
